Warrick Police Facility Upgrade

The Warwick Police Station and Watch House are located within the centre of Warwick, a state heritage listed place, with many of the neighbouring sites also State heritage places. This project included the sympathetic re-use of the existing Police Station (1899-1901), partial modification and extension to the existing Watch House (1995), demolition of the existing Annexe building (1989) and garage/wash building and included the construction of a new sizable 2-level building located to the rear which accommodates the majority of the day-to-day operational activities.

With the interlinking of these 3 main building elements (existing Police Station, Watch House and new building), the updated facilities provided a significant increase in accommodation while providing a facility that better reflects the requirements of modern-day policing, as well as a sympathetic design response to the rich heritage context of the site and surrounds.

Contract Outcomes

The built design illustrates that a significant increase in accommodation across existing and new buildings over the site can be provided, resulting in a facility that better reflects the requirements of modern-day policing, and which is better integrated in its operations, while providing improved public access and street presence.

Most importantly, the traditional long-term police presence on the site has been retained with minimal adverse impact on the place’s cultural heritage significance.
