Sleeman Sports Complex – QAS Gym and changing area

The ground floor of the Theatre building was selected for refurbishment to provide a high-performance gym specifically tailored for elite swimmers. There was also a need for a group changing area that can be used flexibly for when the Theatre is used for functions. The space was refreshed with a new sports floor, audio visual systems, joinery for storage and accessible toilets. The diagonal grid of the building provided some challenges, specifically with fitting the physiotherapy suites in a triangular plan shape. The change rooms have an innovative layout for the suspended curtain track so that the curtains fold back to walls and columns so that the room can be fully opened up, or otherwise divided into several spaces as required.
