QSAC Western Stand Refurbishment – Stage 2
The second stage of refurbishment of the QSAC Western stand provided specialised sports science training facilities and an upgrade to the foyer and security station to provide a welcoming front of house for the public to the stadium.
The sports science refurbishments included a biomechanics laboratory with running track, haematology lab, altitude training room, offices and an athlete’s lounge. The security booth in the foyer was clad with reclaimed timber that was reused from the demolished basketball flooring from the previous use of the southern portion of the western stand. The foyer features a rug design by the indigenous artist Weaver Jack of the Yulparija people.
There is a view from the foyer to the high-performance gym through a generous picture window which involved a sprinkler system that was carefully concealed from view.
