Kirwan Police Station Stage One

The Kirwan Police Station is the first of several stages that will facilitate the sensitive interface between the public and the Queensland Police Service. The Initial analysis of an earlier master planning strategy tested the broader site objectives and ensured that the more critical elements were prioritised and nurtured, including the provision for appropriate long-term infrastructure for the greater precinct, considered.

With its detailed planning around a central circulation spine over several levels, the building encapsulates not only the day to operational needs of a large, innovated station, but, also accommodates the more sensitive needs of highly specialised sections like Criminal Investigation Units, Tactical Crime Squad and Police Link, to name a few. In accommodating these very specific operational needs, the broader architectural language is considered to be highly responsive to the facilities broader civic function whilst reflective of local geographical features like Mount Stuart and the wider, regional, sub-tropical environment.
