Brisbane Aquatic Centre Marshalling Area and Lounge
The Brisbane Aquatic Centre was originally opened for the Commonwealth Games in 1982. It has seen numerous updates and changes throughout these 40+ years, and it is still used for national swimming events. Athlete movements between the indoor and outdoor pool for events and competitions were a primary consideration in the layout of the lounge project. This project also provided a flexible internal space for use by officials and functions, separate amenities and a storage area for pool equipment. The space opens up to the pool deck with a stacking door with accessible threshold ramps provided from the internal spaces to the outdoor pool deck.
The marshalling area was complete in time for the national Olympic and Paralympic swimming trials ahead of the Paris Olympics.
