Queensland Heritage Awards 2026 – National Trust Queensland
PSC is pleased to celebrate our recent success at the Queensland Heritage Awards presented by the National Trust of Australia (Queensland).
The Warwick Police Facility Upgrade received a High Commendation in the Adaptive Re-use category, recognising the careful balance struck between conservation and upgrade of the precinct to conserve the cultural heritage significance of the place and to support the evolving needs of modern-day policing. The outcome reflects a highly considered approach that enables the continued use of the c.1900 stone building by the community.
Reflecting on the project, Dr Lisa Daunt shares:
This was a project that enabled our team to utilise a variety of heritage and new building skills. It was a rewarding collaboration with our client, consultants, and the contractors to achieve a sympathetic design response to the rich heritage context of the site and surrounds. Most importantly, the traditional long-term police presence on the site has been renewed with minimal impact on the place’s cultural heritage significance.
The Conservation Management Plan for The Brisbane Tattersall’s Club co-authored by Dr Lisa Daunt (PSC), with Susan Hill (Historian and Heritage Consultant) and Finn Rasmussen (Tattersall’s honorary architect) was also shortlisted in the Heritage Reports, Resources and Publications category.
Adding to the occasion, Dr Lisa Daunt was also recognised with a WIN in the Heritage Reports, Resources and Publications category for her book Constructing Faith in the Antipodes: Modern Church Architecture in Queensland 1945–1977. This is a well-deserved acknowledgement of her extensive and thoughtful research, expertise, and ongoing contribution to heritage practice.
Reflecting on the book, Lisa shares:
The breadth of the topic enabled me to gain a deep understanding of Queensland’s social, religious, and architectural history. Researching and writing about modern church architecture is especially interesting as a number of these churches are among the most notable modern architecture in the state, often with amazing integrated and bespoke artwork.
We would like to thank the National Trust of Queensland for recognising the value of thoughtful heritage outcomes.
