Lawnton Ambulance Station

This project involved the construction of a 10-bay Ambulance Station, accommodating 22 full-time employees and supporting 66 staff across three rotational shifts. The station features a plant room with parking for 10 Class 1 vehicles, covered parking for two Patient Transport Services vehicles, and secure staff parking. The station also includes a designated area for deliveries and loading, a PWD car park bay with an associated Shared Zone, and a footpath connecting to the Station Emergency Phone.

The project presented several challenges. The site required remediation due to historical contamination from its use as a motor garage. To mitigate the risk of flooding, the switchboard and generator were strategically placed on raised platforms. The limited land area necessitated a multi-level design, with the main station building located on the upper level and parking and vehicle access on the lower level. To minimize noise impact from the adjacent Gympie Road, the building incorporates high-quality insulation, sealing, and double-glazed acoustic windows.

This project successfully overcame these challenges to deliver a functional and safe Ambulance Station that meets the operational needs of the Queensland Ambulance Service and its personnel.
